Ecobank
Transnational Incorporated (ETI) has announced that its Executive Director for Finance
and Risk has left the company.
The pan-African bank in a brief
statement January 8, 2013 said Mrs Laurence do Rego is “no longer an employee”
of the Togolese-based lender.
Laurence do Rego was suspended last
year after reporting alleged fraud by some ETI senior executives to Nigerian
regulators. This led to the resignation of Ecobank Board Chairman Kolapo Lawson
in October 2013.
Mrs Rego’s allegations included that
the CEO Thierry Tanoh had pressured her to misstate the group’s 2012 results.
Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating the matter.
Mrs Rego joined Ecobank in 2002 and
was appointed to her position in January 2010 after serving as chief financial
officer from 2005 to 2009.
An accountant by training, she also
worked for 15 years in Europe.
