Actor Paul Walker, best known for his role in the “Fast and the Furious” street-racing franchise, died Saturday in a fiery car crash in Santa Clarita, Calif., at the age of 40.
A statement posted on the actor’s Twitter and Facebook pages read:
“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide.”The single-vehicle crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. Pacific on Saturday. Two people were found dead inside a Porsche Carrera GT that was engulfed in flames when police arrived at the scene, according to media reports. Walker was the passenger in the car.
At the time of his death, Walker was in the middle of shooting the seventh “Fast and the Furious” film. He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter.
