Sokoto state govt buys two power plants at N163m

Sokoto - The Sokoto State Government on Saturday said it bought two 2000 KVA power plants for the state water board, valued at about N163 million.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Shehu Tangaza, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto.
Tangaza said the plants would further boost the process of water supply to Sokoto metropolis and its surroundings.
He added that "the measure is part of sustained efforts by the present administration toward improving water supply to the people of the state.’’
The state government, he noted, had also awarded contracts for more power plants to ensure that all the bad ones were replaced.
He appealed to Sokoto residents to use water judiciously, warning that "people should desist from illegal connection of water pipes.’’
